Pia Adlešič

professional groomer, lecturer, and owner of the Bark Grooming salon in Ljubljana

I have been a great lover of dogs and animals since childhood. As long as I can remember, all my childhood dreams were connected to dogs, and I was happiest when I got my first dog at the age of ten—a Maltese named Kaj.

The rest is, in many ways, history. I entered the world of dog shows at a young age (if I remember correctly, around twelve years old) and soon began competing in Junior Handling.

I was very active in various dog sports and competitions (dog shows, agility, obedience), and in 2002 I was recognized by the Slovenian Kennel Club as the Most Promising Young Cynologist.

In 2005, I represented Slovenia in Junior Handling at one of the world’s largest dog shows—Crufts. There, I competed against approximately 32 handlers from around the world and won the title of Crufts Junior Handling Winner 2005. The following year, I also competed at Crufts again and placed in the top ten.

I continued actively exhibiting dogs of various breeds, gaining extensive experience in grooming, particularly in preparing dogs for dog shows. During this period, I showed dogs professionally and achieved numerous titles (including multiple BOB, BOG, and BIS wins). I also registered my kennel of Chinese Crested Dogs and had my first litter in 2008.

I travelled extensively around the world, and it was through dogs that I was able to visit many countries and experience many wonderful opportunities.

In 2013, I moved to Italy for five years, where I further deepened my knowledge of dog grooming and specialized in the stripping technique. During this time, I attended numerous dog grooming competitions, workshops, and dog shows around the world (including the USA, Spain, France, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, the UK, and many others).

After returning to Ljubljana, I decided to open my own grooming salon, where I can share my knowledge and experience in this field.

Although I have been in the dog world for over twenty years, my journey is far from over, and I look forward to where it will take me in the future.
